Updates and Erosion
At the beginning of 2017 I began a new body of work, which is inspired by my attraction and fascination with the random natural beauty of eroded surfaces. The Japanese have a term for this, Wabi Sabi. I have been photographing textures and erosion for many years, and have a library of these images, which I have not shared with anyone until now. Please check the new tab to my website called “Erosion & Textures” which contains some of my favorite images of erosion. I think they are really beautiful. Let me know what you think.
Six new paintings, which are inspired by erosion, are currently on their way out of my studio, and on their way to being shown in group shows this summer at both 10 West Gallery and Michael Kate Interiors.
I began the new paintings as an experiment using new materials and tools. Normally I have painted exclusively with a brush. I decided to put the brush aside, and find more direct ways of interacting with the paint. I hope you will check them out in person or on my website under ‘Erosion Series.’
