Recently I’ve had a couple challenges. A year ago I lost the lease to my wonderful art studio of eight years in the Santa Barbara Funk Zone, due to a change in property ownership. In January of this year, while skiing, (my favorite activity!), I was hit from behind by a snowboarder at high speed, resulting in a severely fractured arm and a concussion that lasted two and a half months.
Needless to say, I was pulled away from my art practice and have been in a deep healing process all winter.
As spring approached I got word that I was being included in Issue 002 of Monochromica Magazine, which features beautifully curated art by established artists working in a monochromatic palette.
Happily, this gave me a much needed boost! Pictured here is Brushstroke Medium I, and I am thrilled with how well it turned out in the journal article. See page 108 from Issue 002 at Monochromica-Karen Lehrer to view my entry. You can also view the entire issue at Monochromica Magazine Issue 002
I hope you are enjoying the change of season and looking forward to enriching times ahead.
All my best,
~Karen
