I am so grateful to have received a portfolio review by a curator from the Almine Rech Gallery, courtesy of Singulart, who represents my work in Paris, France.
Almine Rech Gallery has brick and mortar locations in Paris, London, New York, and other international cities. Rech first opened in Paris in 1989 and in addition to their gallery locations, they participate in art fairs including Art Basel, TEFAF, Paris+, and Frieze. Here are a few highlights from their review:
“Karen Lehrer’s portfolio is a dynamic interplay between abstract forms and strategic layering which exudes depth and places an emphasis on texture. Her color palette – earthy colors with the occasion brighter tone – are reminiscent of natural landscapes and organic patterns while remaining profoundly abstract. Her approach to shapes is fluid with soft edges that allow movement and transition. There is a sense of spontaneity and personal narrative in her work which creates pieces that are both introspective and universally resonant.”…… “The forms she paints, fluidly float and interact with each other across the canvas…..” “The strength of Lehrer’s portfolio is her layering of color and textures skill…..” “Her pieces are both accessible and engaging.”
