I am inspired by elements in both the visual world around me, and the intuitive world of ideas, concepts, and impressions. I use elements of design, color, value, shape, line, form, and texture to communicate and translate my sources of inspiration into paintings.
I’m currently exploring and investigating the concept of erosion in my work. The way rust adheres to metal, the effects of weather on painted surfaces; years of painting and repainting on old buildings, chipping away, seeing what is revealed. Seeing the way color peeks through from a different time, applied by the hands of people who are no longer in this world, revealing glimpses of other eras. This is my current inspiration.
